«Progressive professionalization » : An important part of Purpan's teaching, internships (which can vary from 15 to 18 months length in total) are the opportunity to test theoretical knowledge in realife situations. The experience this internship provides is additionally enriched by the fact that students must write a report with the help of a tutor at the end of the internship, record the work they have done, and include their personal impressions and observations.

The 1st year internship (15 weeks) on a farm, aims to develop observational skills and further discover farm life and social/professional environments, as well as experience living in a different family.

The 2nd year internship abroad (11 weeks) in an agricultural firm offers ans opportunity to practice language skills, gain international experience, develop analytical capacities and prepare for the technical-economical at a higher level of study.

The 3rd year (11 weeks) internship brings the students into contact with economical or social organizations working in the agricultural fiels. The internship can be done abroad and is often the opportunity to gain work experience developing countries. The student has projects and studies he must carry out including the capacity to analyze information in the aim of creating solutions.

The end-of-studies internship (26 weeks) places the student in an engineer's post in a French or foreign company. The engineer's dissertation demonstrates the future engineer's capacity to undertake and conduct a study methodically, rigorously, and with skill. It brings about theoretical proposals or realizations whose value will be justified in front of a dissertation jury.
